Youth meet with political parties


November 12: About 60 youth from across the kingdom met with election officials and representatives of the People’s Democratic Party and the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa yesterday.

This session is part of the children and youth festival that is currently going on at the clock tower.

One of the objectives of the youth and children festival is to educate the youth on the democratization process and the political developments.

At the session this afternoon, election officials briefed the youth were briefed on the role of the election commission and representatives from the two political parties explained the concept of democracy, the democratization process, their party policies especially concerning youth.

Keeping in mind the importance of youth, the party representatives said both parties have set up women and children department to provide a platform for them to raise their voice.

Some of the participants said they are participating in the forum to have a better understanding of the democratization process and party politics. The participants asked questions on various issues ranging from constituency candidates to how the political parties are going to combat corruption and tackle the unemployment problem.
