November 27: The people of Yalang gewog in Trashi Yangtse have nominated retired Colonel Kezang Namgay as their National Council candidate. He was nominated at a gewog meeting on Friday.

It was attended by over 260 people. Retired Colonel Kezang Namgay is the only gewog National Council nominee from the Dzongkhag.

According to the Election Commission the National Council election for Dzongkhags with only one candidate will be postponed.

Meanwhile the candidature of the National Council nominee of Yangtse gewog, Tshering Wangchuk has not been accepted. This according to the returning officer of Trashi Yangtse is because he failed to produce the Degree certificate.

The returning officer told our reporter Dorji Dema that no body has come forward to contest from the remaining six Gewogs.
