September 7: A 27-year-old woman died when the tipper truck she was travelling in went off the road and plunged into the Pa Chu yesterday afternoon. Her body was found earlier today at the dam site of Chhukha Hydro Power Corporation Limited.
The truck fell 150 feet below the road at Tamchu, about 8 kilometres away from Chunzom towards Paro.
There were four passengers including a 14 month old baby and a 3-year-old girl in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police are still looking for the body of the 14 month old baby of the deceased.
Meanwhile the driver, who is the husband of the deceased is seriously injured and is being treated at the Paro hospital.
Their 3-year-old daughter escaped with minor injuries. The truck was on its way from Thimphu to Paro.
On behalf of the His majesty the King, the office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon granted Nu. 20,000 each to the survivor.
