May 22: A windstorm damaged several houses in Monggar on Monday, May 19.

It blew away the roof of a Lhakhang and two houses in Gelgong village.

The storm also damaged two houses in Nargo and Laptsa villages and the Jurmi Primary School. A house in Pangkhang village under Narang geog was partially damaged when the CGI sheet from the kitchen hit the wall of the house.

Our reporter Tshering Jamtsho says the storm has also damaged about 20 acres of maize in six villages under Silmabee geog. In Depung geog, the power supply was disrupted leaving about 75 households in the geog without electricity.

Dzongkhag and geog authorities are assessing the extent of damage.
