August 28: A 34-year-old woman in Samdrup Jongkhar has been mauled by a wild boar. The incident occurred at around 11 am on Tuesday, August 26 at Sarjung village of Martshalla geog.
The woman was fetching fodder for the cattle in the forest when she was suddenly attacked by the boar.
She was taken to the Samdrupcholing BHU by villagers and relatives. She was then referred to the Deothang Military Hospital.
Medical reports from the hospital said the woman suffered several wounds on both her hands. She also suffered cuts on her left thigh and back.
Doctors however confirmed that the woman did not suffer any internal injuries. They said it would take at least about a month for the wounds to heal.
