March 22: Dagana District court has sentenced a 25-year-old man to three years in prison for murder.

Deo Kumar Mongar hit a co-worker on the head with a spade killing him on the spot following an argument between the two on December 23 last year. Both were under the influence of drugs at the time.

The court verdict says since the murder was not preplanned or intentional, the guilty was given only three years imprisonment.

Deo Kumar Mongar also has to pay Nu. 30,000 to the deceased’s wife as compensation.

The court also sentenced Ambar Badhur Biswa and Mon Badhur Biswa to two months imprisonment for taking marijuana with Deo Kumar Mongar on that day.
