October 25: The two other suspects involved in the Samtse mining case have also been released. Ugyen Samdrup was released on Thursday, october 23 while Najay was released yesterday, october 24.
Both were detained on charges of forgery, tampering of official documents and illegal mining operations since July.
Speaking to BBS Ugyen Samdrup said he was detained for 92 days.
After the Managing Director of NRDCL Sangay Gyeltshen was released, Ugyen’s family members cross checked with the court and found that Ugyen has been detained for 42 additional days without a court order.
Ugyen Samdrup said he will question the anti corruption commission on the legality of this.
However, ACC said they are cross checking the issue.
In the case of Najay, the ACC had processed the extension of remand for 108 days and was detained until yesterday. He had been detained for 107 days.
The ACC has filed a petition to the high court to extend the remand to detain NRDCL Managing Director Sangay Gyeltshen.
ACC says the case is complicated and they are working hard to solve it at the earliest.
ACC also said they are focusing on this case because it is affecting the whole mining industry.
