July 2: A man died on-the-spot when the maruti van he was traveling in went off the road at Dzongkha-loom in Trongsa.
The accident occurred on Sunday, June 29. The van fell some 550 feet below the road.
Including the driver there were four people in the van. The three who survived the accident were referred to the national referral hospital. Two have been discharged. The third reported to be in critical condition is being treated in the intensive care unit.
Sources told our reporter that it took the dzongkhag staff, shopkeepers and transmission labourers about three hours to evacuate the injured. Police are investigating the accident.
Meanwhile, A 23-year-old man has died after he fell from a cliff at Burichu between Tsirang and Wangduephodrang highway. The accident happened at 4:30 pm on Monday, June 30.
The deceased, a policeman was returning from Walklaytar.
Eyewitness said the deceased was riding a bike. He skidded and fell. He got up to restart the bike. While starting the bike he went backwards and did not see the cliff behind and fell down the cliff.
He fell 350 to 400 feet below the road. The man died of severe head and spine injury.
