September 05: The Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag court has sentenced two men to nine years six months in prison for illegal transaction, and possession and use of drugs.

The two men are Karma Ngedup Gyeltshen and Sonam Tshering.

34 year old Karma Ngedup Gyeltshen is from Goemjana village under Bjena Gewog in Wangdiphodrang. Sonam Tshering is from Gaopey under Hungrel Gewog in Paro.

The court also gave two other men prison sentences of six months and a 17 year old teenager, three months for substance abuse.

The substance abusers were caught indulging in drugs by the police in May in Wangdi town. On enquiry by the police they named Karma Ngedup Gyeltshen and Sonam Tshering as the suppliers.
