January 25: The Thimphu-Trashigang highway is still blocked at Yotongla and Thrumshingla. Labourers deployed by the Roads Department are working round the clock to clear the snow but it is likely to take a couple of days.

Traffic police told our Bumthang correspondent Tandin Phuntsho that it might take two to three days to clear the roadblock at Thrumshingla. They said they cannot say exactly when Yotongla will be open to traffic but it is likely to remain closed today.

They said passenger buses will not be allowed to leave from Bumthang in either direction today.

The Thimphu-Punakha highway is open to traffic so is the Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway which was blocked by snow at Tanalum.

Passenger buses from the Lungtenzampa bus terminal to Punakha and Phuentsholing were delayed by a few hours yesterday morning but they were able to leave on their way.
