August 26: Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This was decided by the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, Road Safety and Transport Authority and the Department of Roads to allow the road widening work to progress uninterrupted.

Authorities said people should plan their travel accordingly.

Apart from the never ending traffic, the work has also been interrupted by the Monsoon rain and falling boulders which has made travel along this highway extremely dangerous.

Commuters are being cautioned to be extra careful while driving along the highway and avoid unnecessary travel.
