January 26: The Thimphu-Bumthang highway is now open to traffic. The road block was cleared earlier yesterday.

Our reporter Tandin Phuntsho says private vehicles were able to pass through by 11:00am yesterday.

Passenger bus services between Bumthang and Thimphu will resume from today.

However, the Bumthang Tashigang highway is still blocked at Sengthangla and Thrumshingla. The Roads Department says they hope to clear the roadblocks by noon today.

The road blocks at Dochula, Tanalum and Pelala were cleared on January 24.

Motorists are however cautioned to drive carefully.
