Thimphu police apprehends three drug abusers

July 11:
Three men including an Indian national have been apprehended by Thimphu police in connection with substance abuse.

They were caught in Chunzom, Lungtenphu and the area known as the Hongkong market. They were all found in possession of Spasmo-proxyvon.

Dr. Pakila Dukpa of the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital says Spasmo-proxyvon is a painkiller but people often misuse it.

According to Major Dorji Khandu of the Narcotic Drugs Law Enforcement Unit, the men have bought the drug from a medical shop in Jaigaon.

In June alone, Thimphu police arrested 57 drug abusers.
