May 26: Thimphu United B has won the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Archery Tournament. They defeated Druk Green Power Corporation in the final match yesterday.
The trophies and cash prizes were awarded by the president of the Bhutan Archery Federation, former Works and Human Settlement Minister, Kinzang Dorji.
Thimphu United team members received a cash prize of Nu. 3,000 each. The runners up team members, Druk Green Power Corporation, received Nu. 2,000 each.
Tashi Dorji from Druk Green Power Corporation received Nu. 10,000 as the prize for the best archer. Nima from Sanam Dha Sa-jyel received the prize for highest Dobjey. He received Nu. 7,000.
Thukten Tshering from Druk Logmey received the prize for one day highest hits. He received Nu. 3,000.
Kuenzang Thinley from Druk Green Power Corporation was declared the man of the match. He received Nu. 5,000.
The prize for the highest Daya of the tournament went to Talop Kinzang Dorji of Sanam Dha Sa-Jyel. He received Nu. 2,000.
The prize for best Dachem went to Jigdra Chug-su. The team received Nu. 5,000.
Hundreds of archery enthusiasts gathered to witness the final match. Some of the elderly people said the interest shown by the younger generation in traditional bow and arrow is encouraging. |
