Thim Throm's NC candidate- Sangay Zam

November 22: The people of Thim Throm have nominated the former principal of Gelephu Higher Secondary school Sangay Zam as their National Council candidate. She was nominated at a meeting yesterday.

Over 200 people of Thim Throm turned up for the meeting. Briefing the gathering on the roles and responsibilities and the powers and functions of the National Council, she said the National Council has an important responsibility to ensure that the ruling party safeguards the interest of the nation and fulfils the aspirations of the people.

She said it is crucial for the people to nominate and elect credible and competent people as national council candidates.

Speaking to BBS, Sangay Zam said if elected she would like to focus on poverty eradication. Also at the meeting brochures containing her personal background and accomplishments were distributed to the people.

Sangay Zam is the only candidate from Thim Throm vying for a seat in the National Council as of now. The last date to hold Gewog meetings to nominate National Council candidate is November 26.

An election official present at yesterday’s meeting said with only one candidate from Thimphu, it is very likely that the National Council election in the Dzongkhag will have to be postponed.
