August 22: Police in Thimphu have detained a 27-year-old man for allegedly molesting his 17 year old step daughter. The case was reported to the Women and Child Protection Unit of the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) by the alleged victim and her mother on Wednesday, August 20.

According to their report, the incident took place early Wednesday morning while the mother was out in the toilet which is located outside the house.

She managed to escape when her mother returned from toilet.

The next morning when the victim reported the matter to her mother, the step father threatened the mother and the victim that he will rape her.

The RBP’s women and child protection unit told BBS that medical report has ruled out rape.

The accused has denied molesting his step daughter.

Police are investigating the case.
