Teacher's Day, a day to honour the noblest profession


May 3: May 2, the birth anniversary of His Majesty the late Third Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day in the country.

The Teacher’s Day is an occasion to acknowledge and show appreciation to one of the noblest profession.

As the nation celebrated Teacher’s Day yesterday, teachers across the country immersed themselves in the love showered by their students. Teachers were presented with gifts and greeting cards by the students as a token of love, respect and gratitude.

Here in the capital, students and teachers gathered at their respective schools to celebrate the day. Apart from cards and gifts, teachers were also treated to various cultural programmes.

The student organizers said the day is very special for them. They said they are celebrating two important events- the birth anniversary of Third Druk Gyalpo His Late Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Teacher’s Day. Students said the day is an opportunity for them to honour the hard work put in by the teachers in shaping their future.

BBS spoke to some of the teachers. They said they were overwhelmed with immense love and respect showered on them by the students.
