March 04: Gone are the days when teachers appoint the captains. Today it is the students who are electing their captains through a secret ballot.  In Daga Higher Secondary School in Dagana, the captains were elected by the students this year. This was done using the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The acting Presiding Officer during the exercise, Namgay Dorji, said such programme will help to implement Good Governance, which is one of the pillars of the Gross National Happiness. Eighteen (EVMs) were used.

The Dzongkhag Election Office helped prepare the exercise.

Dzongkhag officials and police personnel also participated as observers and to safeguard the polling stations.

The exercise was done in line with the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
