Students attend winter programme

Winter vacation for students has begun. It is a time for some students to relax after the end of school. In Thimphu, the Army Women’s Welfare Association organized a weeklong programme for Army Children to keep themselves occupied during the winter break with various learning activities.

These groups of 140 students have undergone a weeklong programme on fun oriented learning activities for children at the officers Institute in Lungtenphu.

The Army Children’s programme was organized by the Army Women’s Welfare Association. The weeklong programme started on December 19 and ended on December 25.

The Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army, Goongloen Wogma Batoo Tshering was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Expressing his happiness with the programme, Goongloen Wogma Batoo Tshering said the programme would be provided more support in the future. The chief guest awarded prizes to winners of the various competitions that were held during the programme.

During the programme, participants discussed issues like teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. The program also had sessions on career counseling and classes on arts and crafts.

Speaking to BBS some of the participants said the programme was motivating and inspiring.

Students from Thimphu, Deothang and Tencholing participated in the programme. This programme will be an annual event.
