February 2: More than 100 vehicles and passengers have left Samdrup Jongkhar early today morning. They were stranded following a strike in the Indian state of Assam yesterday.
The passengers include students, pilgrims, businessmen and officials The 24 hour strike was called by Adivasi Student Association of Assam. The strike began at 5am yesterday morning.
Meanwhile passengers traveling from Samtse to Thimphu and Phuentsholing have also been stranded in Samtse due to a strike. The 48 hour strike was called by labourers working at tea gardens in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The strike was called at 6 am yesterday morning and will last till Sunday morning.
