February 19: Several statues inside the Shera Dra-gu Lhakhang in Dotey gewog in Paro have been vandalized and their nangtens stolen.

The Ku-bang chorten which is located below the Lhakhang has also been vandalized. The incident is believed to have taken place at around 10 pm on Sunday.

The Dotey Gup Tandin Penjor said six statues in the Shera Dra-gu Lhakhang including the statue of the Jowo, the main statue, have been vandalized. He said after stealing the nangtens, the miscreants desecrated the other statues.

Other important nangtens have also been desecrated by the miscreants.

An investigation is underway.
