Samtse town to get proper sewerage

May 8:
Samtse town will soon have a proper sewerage system.

As our correspondent Sonam Lhamo reports, the construction works to lay underground sewer lines is underway. The work to lay a network of underground sewer lines and construction of septic tanks in Samtse town began last month. It is expected to be complete within six months.

Municipal officials say the main sewer pipe will flow into the five septic tanks, which will be located below the cinema hall.

The construction of sewerage comes as good news for town residents who have been facing sewage problem until now.

The town secretary Jabchu said apart from improving hygiene and sanitation, having a proper sewerage system would also help control mosquito breeding in summer.

The project is being carried out at a cost of more than Nu. 1.5 million. It’s funded by Liaison Office of Denmark.
