May 20: Problems associated with traffic and parking space congestion has become a problem in almost all the towns in the country with the number of vehicles increasing rapidly. With only a small parking area, Samtse town has also been facing the same problem.

The problem of parking congestion in Samtse town is worse on weekends. On weekends, the parking area is packed with vehicles as people flock to the weekend vegetable market to buy vegetables and other necessary items.

Taxi drivers said the concerned authorities should look into the matter. According to the records maintained with the Road Safety and Transport Authority (RSTA), there are more than 500 vehicles in Samtse.

The RSTA base In-charge said RSTA and the Traffic Police are doing what they can to ensure smooth traffic. Meanwhile, municipal officials said a new parking area will be developed once the ongoing town planning works are complete.
