October 10: Police in Thimphu are looking for three men in connection with an armed robbery at the Druk Petroleum Office in Chubachu. The robbery occurred around 4:30 am on Sunday.
According to the police, at around 4:30 am the two handy boys who were sleeping inside the office were woken up by somebody tapping on the door.
One of the boys opened the door assuming it to be an early customer. He was confronted by three men with their face carefully covered.
They forced their way in and tied up the two boys. Their eyes and mouth were covered using duck tape.
The victims told police that they were beaten and told not to make any noise.
After failing to open the safety box, the robbers took off with the proceeds from the previous night’s sale amounting to about Nu. 13,000 and a Nokia mobile phone from one of the boys.
The robbers left behind a black nylon bag which is the only clue for the police besides the stolen Nokia phone.
Police said anyone who can provide information that can help arrest the robbers will be rewarded. The identity of the informer will also be kept a secret.
