October 04: Vehicle vandalism has been a constant problem in the capital city. Of late residents of Babesa in Thimphu have been complaining about increasing number of cases.
Residents in Babesa are spending sleepless nights.
They go to bed with the fear that their cars parked outside might be stripped of their accessories and spare parts.
Many times residents there woke up to find that their car windows smashed and side mirrors broken. Sometimes their vehicles are left without tyres and stereo tapes stolen.
Karma, a taxi driver is one of them. Last Sunday night, unidentified miscreants broke the window of his van and stole the stereo tape, battery and tyres, which he recently bought from Phuntsholing. He said he has no clue as to who is behind the crime. He added he immediately reported the matter to the police.
Aum Khandu Om is another person. Miscreants broke the front glass and stole a bag containing cassettes and vehicle documents.
Police said three car vandalism cases have been reported to the police last month alone.
They said it is difficult to trace the suspects due to lack of concrete evidence and information. However they are investigating the case.
