Religious activities not allowed during the election period

February 10 : The election commission of Bhutan has issued a notification saying during the election period, political parties, candidates and party workers are not allowed to organize any religious activities such as propitiating gods and deities, conducting tordogs and gyeg-treg.

The Election Commission says parties, candidates and the party workers are not allowed to entertain people with food and drinks during public meetings and rallies.

The Election Commission says such activities are against the electoral rules and regulations of the Election Commission of Bhutan.

If anyone is seen involved in these activities, the Election Commission says the matter should be immediately reported to the national observers or to the security personnel on duty.
