Re-cadastral survey to cost Nu. 460 million

June 10: The nation wide re-cadastral survey kick started from Lhuntse Dzongkhag in May. The three year long land survey will cost an estimated Nu. 460 million. More than 120 people are involved in the survey.

Officials will move into districts and geog in phase as they conduct survey and educate people on the new Land Act.

The land survey is being conducted by the National Land Commission Secretariat to provide accurate, reliable and dependable information on land. The Secretary Sangay Khandu says the reconnaissance survey for Monggar and Lhuentse has already been conducted.

24 fresh graduates have been recruited in February to help with the survey. The graduates were trained in land management record keeping and land transaction. The National Land Commission Secretariat has also recruited 24 drivers.

The secretary Sangay Khandu says the National Land Commission Secretariat is short of qualified surveyors. Officials are targeting to finish the survey in five eastern Dzongkhag excluding Samdrup Jongkhar by mid 2009.
