Private sectors to have separate HRD committee

September 17: The private sectors in the country will soon get more opportunities for their Human Resource Development (HRD). A committee will be formed to look at the training needs and also review the current HRD guidelines for private and corporate sectors. A separate HRD guideline will also be worked out by the committee.

The private sector representatives said at the meeting yesterday that most of the training offers for human resource developments are being taken by the corporate sectors. This they said is hampering their human resource developments as they cannot afford to develop the human resources.

The Director of the Department of Human Resources Sonam Rinchen said that the offers are being mostly taken by the corporate sectors because it has more qualified employees.

The Secretary General of the Bhutan Chamber for Commerce and Industry Phub Tshering said a separate guideline for private sector HRD will benefit them.

While the exact figure of total training slots availed by the private and the corporate sectors is not available, the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources offered more than 3700 in-country and outside trainings to the private and corporate sectors during the 9th five year plan period.

For the 10th five year plan period, the Ministry is proposing more than 2000 in-country and outside trainings for the private and corporate sectors. The total amount they proposed is Nu. 834 million.
