Police arrest five Sherubtse graduates for substance abuse

October 06: Police have arrested five men, all graduates from Sherubtse College for substance abuse. They were caught abusing marijuana and relipen tablets above the swimming pool complex.

They were arrested at 5pm on Wednesday. The graduates were waiting to attend the National Orientation programme.

They are all aged between 22 to 25 years. The case has been forwarded to the court.

Major Dorji Khandu from RBP’s Narcotics and Drugs Unit says the number of people caught abusing drugs has increased this year compared to the previous year.

Last year the police caught only 192 people. The figure has already reached 215 this year. He said since the establishment of a separate unit the vigilance has gone up.
