Placements for graduates joining the civil service
December 31: A total of 69 graduates will join the Civil Service from tomorrow. The graduates completed a yearlong Post Graduate Diploma course at the RIM in Simtokha. They appeared for the civil service common examinations last year. The appointment orders were given by the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) Secretary today.
A total in 72 graduates were selected in the RCSC common examinations last year. Of the total two failed to qualify from Public Administration while one withdrew from the Diploma in Financial Management.
Handing over the appointment orders the RCSC Secretary said that graduates must serve the country with commitment and dedication. Dasho Bap Kesang said they will play a important role in ensuring good governance.
The RCSC Secretary emphasized that the civil service highly values the quality of civil servants over quantity. This he said is in line with the policy of efficient, small and a compact civil service.
Speaking on the diploma courses some graduates said the course were more theoretical. They said job attachments and on the job trainings could be emphasized.
Graduates pointed out the placement are based more on merit ranking of the RCSC examination than the PG diplomas. The Director of the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) said the views will be looked into.
