October 24: The Pheuntsholing Dungkhag Court has acquitted all those involved in the RICBL case. The court passed the verdict yesterday bringing the much talked about RICBL case to a close.
After investigations by the Anti Corruption Commission, the office of the Attorney General charged 72 people most of them employees of RICBL with forgery and official misconduct in March this year.
Of the 72 people, 64 are currently employed with RICBL, and seven were former RICBL employees. They were accused of submitting fake medical and hotel bills and making exaggerated TA and DA claims.
Our Phuentsholing correspondent Tenzin Wangda says they have been acquitted on all counts.
According to the court verdict, the prosecution has not been able to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt. It says all accused have got their claims reimbursed as per the grade entitlements specified in the RICBL’s service rules and regulations.
The management which was accused of official misconduct has also been acquitted on the ground that the management has performed their duty in accordance with the service rules.
