November 10:The people of Nisho gewog in Wangduephodrang dzongkhag boycotted the Druk Phunsum Tshogpa meeting at Sha Samtengang on November 9. The meeting which was meant for three gewogs was attended by about 250 people of Kashi and Phangyul but only about ten people from Nisho geog attended the meeting.
Nisho geog actually has more than 1500 eligible voters.
The DPT president Jigme Thinley told the gathering that he was deeply hurt to find out that people of Nisho Gewog who are mostly related to him through ancestral homes did not turn up for the meeting.
He said he has not come to talk about his party but about the core concept of democratization and the political developments taking place in the kingdom so that the people will be better prepared for the change in governance.
He told the gathering that it is not the time to think about business or profit but to think about our collective future.
The few people who came from Nisho geog told the meeting and our reporter that they heard the DPT president was coming but they were not informed that there was going to be a meeting on this day.
The DPT President however said differences over the candidate nomination for Nisho Sephu constituency were the reasons why people from Nisho Gewog did not come for the meeting. The Nisho candidate Kinga lost to Gyem Dorji from Sephu geog.
