October 01: The Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley is in Thailand enroute from New York to Bhutan. On Tuesday, Lyonchhen and the delegates visited the Grand Palace to pay respects to Her Royal Highness Princess Gyalyani Vadhana who passed away in January this year and whose body is lying in state until the royal cremation in November this year.
Following this, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley and the delegates met with the Bhutanese students studying in Universities in Thailand. There are about one hundred Bhutanese students studying in Thailand.
A news release from the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Thailand says that the President of Rangsit University Dr. Arthit Ourairat also hosted a luncheon in honour of Lyonchhen and the delegates.
Interacting with the students, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley spoke on Bhutan’s transition to parliamentary democracy and the adoption of the constitution.
