August 13: The Prime Minister Lyonchen Jigmi Y. Thinley has returned after attending the SAARC Summit in Sri Lanka.
Upon arrival at the Paro airport, Lyonchen Jigmi Y. Thinley was received by the Cabinet Ministers, the Cabinet Secretary and armed force officers.
Dzongkhag officials, representatives from the Rabdey and grass root leaders were also there to receive the Prime Minister at the airport.
Lyonchen Jigmi Y. Thinley was in Sri Lanka to attend the 15th SAARC Summit earlier this month.
On the SAARC Summit, the Prime Minister described the meeting as one of the most successful meetings he has attended so far.
One of the achievement’s from the summit includes the institution of the SAARC Development Fund in Bhutan.
The summit also discussed several other issues from controlling terrorism in the region to addressing the consequences of climate change.
The summit also reiterated the commitment towards making SAARC a powerful and effective mechanism for the realization of the dreams of the people of South Asia.
