PDP identifies candidates from Chukha Dzongkhag |
September 21: The People’s Democratic Party has identified Rinzin Dorji, a 32 year old businessman from Geling, as their candidate for the Phuntsholing constituency.
He will contest against Druk Phunsum Tshogpa’s Chencho Dorji who is also a businessman. Rinzin Dorji graduated from Sherubtse College with a Bachelor’s degree in commerce in 2000.
He told our reporter Tenzin Wangda that joining politics is the best way to serve the people and the nation. Before he joined politics, Rinzin Dorji served as the Geling Gup.
If elected, he said road construction in rural areas will be his priority. He said a master plan is necessary to revamp the whole town of Phuntsholing. Phuntsholing constituency has six Gewogs.
They are Phuntsholing, Dungna, Geling, Lokchina, Metekha and Sampheling.
In Chapcha Bongo constituency, the People’s Democratic Party has named Kunzang Dorji as their candidate. He will be contesting against Druk Phunsum Tshogpa’s Ugay Tshering. 43 year old Kunzang Dorji has a Master’s degree in science from Oxford University in England.
He has worked as a civil servant for about 19 years. He pointed out providing communication infrastructure and electricity in the rural areas as his priority. |
