September 10: The People’s Democratic Party has identified and finalized 45 of its 47 candidates.

The latest candidate to be identified is Garab Dorji who will contest the parliamentary election from the Gelephu constituency in Sarpang.

There were two candidates from the constituency, Garab Dorji and Achut Bandari. Our reporter Sonam Rinchen says the party coordinators held a close door meeting today to elect the candidate.

Garab Dorji got 23 votes. Achut Bandari managed 18 votes, just five votes less.

Garab Dorji worked as a general manager with Yangphel tours and treks. He also worked as a freelance tourist guide and is presently the president of the Tourist Guide’s association.

The party is in the process of finalizing the remaining two candidates.

The Druk Phunsum Tshogpa Party has finalized the candidates from 37 constituencies. The remaining ten will be finalized soon.
