December 4: December 3 is observed as the International Day for Disabled. Around 100 students observed the day at the RBP ground.
The function began with the children singing the national anthem and cutting a cake which was sent to them on the occasion by His Majesty the King.
Yesterday morning, the disabled children offered Thridhar to His Majesty the King at the garden palace. They also presented a cultural programme as part of the function.
The Health Secretary Dasho Dr. Gado Tshering said we are fortunate because we have a social safety net where family members care for each other.
Pema Chogyel, a disabled teacher, said the day marks the achievements of disabled people around the world. He said he was deeply moved because on this day he had the opportunity of offering Thridhar to His Majesty the King.
The Opposition Leader, senior government officials, representatives from international organizations and the private sector also attended the function.
