Nubi gewog's NC candidate- Namgay Wangchuk |
November 23: A former Project Manager with the Department of Information and Technology, Namgay Wangchuk has been nominated as the National Council candidate of Nubi Gewog in Trongsa on Wednesday, November 21.
31-year-old Namgay Wangchuk is from Laoshong village. He is the only candidate contesting the National Council nomination from Nubi Gewog.
Namgay Wangchuk has a Masters Degree in Information and Technology from Assumption University in Thailand.
He said he has been motivated by the opportunity to serve the people and the community.
Nubi Gewog has 3,000 eligible voters. But only 500 people came to attend the meeting.
The Nubi Gup said many didn’t turn up for the meeting mainly because the Gewog office is located far away from their village. However he said he is confident that the turnout would be high during the polling day.
Trongsa dzongkhag has three candidates for the National Council election. The other two candidates are Dr. Jagar Dorji from Tangsibjee gewog and Chimi Dorji from Korphu gewog.
During the meeting, the Dzongda informed the gathering about the political changes taking place in the country. He said he was happy to see more candidates coming forward to contest the National Council election.
The Dzongkhag Election Officer briefed the people on the election procedures, the difference between the National Assembly and National Council, and the powers and functions of both houses of the parliament.
