April 9: The Cabinet Secretariat and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have issued circulars saying that with the exception of His Majesty the King and His Holiness the Je Khenpo, promotions and appointment of Dratshang lams, senior government officials, and local leaders should be marked by a simple zhungdrel phuensum tshogpai tendrel in their office. Well wishers are allowed to offer only a Khadhar.

No grand celebrations should be organized at home and no gift, presents or Zhongs should be offered.

This is in keeping with the resolutions of the 86th session of the National Assembly. As per the resolution, if celebrations were organized in contravention of the resolution, Anti-Corruption Commission, Police, Dzongdas or Gewog Tshogpas should investigate and report the matter to the Anti-Corruption Commission for appropriate action.
