New motor-able road and a bridge for Dogar Geog in Paro

December 29:
The villagers of Tenchekha and Tsephu under Dogar Geog in Paro now have a new motor-able road and a bridge. The two villages are located on the gentle slope of a ridge overlooking the Thimphu-Paro highway a few kilometers from the Tamchogang Lhakhang.

The road and the new bridge were inaugurated by the works and human settlement minister Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba yesterday. The bridge is located at Chaza, four to five kilometers from the Chuzom confluence, a few kilometers before reaching the Tamchogang Lhakhang. It connects the two villages of Tsephu and Tenchekha to the Thimphu-Paro highway.

Before the bridge and the new road were constructed, the residents of these two villages had to walk for about an hour to reach their village. Now it is a half hour ride in a four wheel along a rough road.

Speaking at the function, the Works and Human Settlement Minister Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba said the government plans to connect every geog with motor-able road. This, he said, will improve the living standard of the people.

The Dogar Gup Lotey Tshering said the road will immensely improve the livelihood of the people of these two villages. It will enable the farmers to market their farm produce, enhance rural income, and ease the hardship of farm life.

The function was attended by Paro Dzongkhag officials, the Dogar-Shaba constituency representative to the National Assembly, grassroots leaders and the residents of the two villages.
