January 15: More than 200 dogs impounded at the Memelakha dog pound have found a new home at Serbithang.
At their temporary home, the dogs will be fed twice every day. They will also have more space to run around and warm huts and straw to sleep on.
There are more than 500 dogs at the Memelakha dog pound. Of that more than 200 dogs including puppies and the sick have been transferred temporarily from Memelakha dog pound to Serbithang under the care of the Jangsa Animal Saving Trust.
At their new home, the dogs will be provided with enough food and water. They also have warm huts and straw to sleep on.
The Jangsa Animal Saving Trust was founded by Lam Kunzang Dorjee.
The officiating Thrompon said they will be providing the necessary assistance.
He said the construction of the dog pound at Memelakha is in its initial stage. The Jangsa Animal saving trust has acquired a three acre land to build a more permanent dog shelter.
Donated by the Royal Society for Protection and Care for Animals, the new dog shelter will be able to accommodate more than 500 dogs once it is complete. |
