October 13: A new Lam has been appointed for Dongkarla Lhakhang under Mewang geog in Thimphu. His Holiness the Je Khenpo awarded Tashi khadar to Khenpo Kinga Rinchen appointing him as the new Lam.

Lam Kinga Rinchen is from Dongkarla. He joined the Central Monastic Body in 1973.

He was ordained as monk by the former Je Khenpo late Nyizer Trulku. He began his preliminary Buddhist studies at Dechenphodrang monastic school.

At the age of 19 he joined Phajoding Buddhist College and pursued higher Buddhist studies under former Je Khenpo Late Geshe Gedun Rinchen.

Lam Kinga also served as the secretary to His Holiness the Je Khenpo for three years.

Prior to his new appointment, Lam Kinga Rinchen served as the head of two monastic schools of Namgyel Choeling in Phuentsholing and Gurugang in Jabarna.
