November 29: Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck inaugurated the Nazhoen Pelri Youth Development Centre yesterday. The consecration ceremony was performed by His Holiness Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye.

Also present at the inauguration were Their Royal Highnesses Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck and Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck.

In her address, Her Majesty said the centre will serve the youth by providing a safe and healthy place to spend their leisure time.

As part of the inauguration, students, local artists, IMTRAT band and a dance troupe from Assam performed songs and dances to entertain the guests.

The programme was also attended by cabinet ministers, the opposition leader, the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, senior government officials, representatives from international community and students from Thimphu schools.

The Nazhoen Pelri Centre was constructed with the government of India providing more than Nu. 94 million. A one minute silence was also observed for the victims of the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, India.
