December 7: Every year wild animals cause extensive damage to crops in various parts of the country. To protect the harvest from wildlife spend sleepless nights guarding their farm from wild animals. Stakeholders from various agencies and grassroots leaders are now meeting in Paro to discuss a national strategy to address the human wildlife conflict.
Around 70 stakeholders are meeting in Paro to draw up a national strategy to address the human wildlife conflict in the kingdom. 11 international experts are also attending the meeting.
The Agriculture Secretary Sherub Gyeltshen said human wildlife conflict has serious implications on the livelihood of the rural population. He said, the degree of reporting human wildlife conflicts occurring around the country has increased significantly.
Speaking to BBS, the Chief Forestry Officer, Sonam Wangyel Wang said the main goal of the workshop is to develop comprehensive strategies to protect crops and domestic animals.
