July 3: The National Council adjourned today’s sitting because the Home and Cultural Affairs Minister Lyonpo Minjur Dorji failed to attend the session.
Today's sitting was reserved for a question answer session with the Home and Cultural Affairs Minister.
The National Council's media focal person said they have two kinds of questions. One is written and the other oral. Sonam Kinga said a minister has to be present when the question is oral.
However their presence is not required when it is a written question. A written reply will suffice.
Speaking to BBS Lyonpo Minjur said it was decided in the cabinet that ministers need not be physically present if a clearly written reply has been sent to the house.
