October 03: More than 1,200 graduates attended a briefing by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources yesterday. The National Graduates Orientation Programme (NGOP) will begin on 5th October. The briefing was conducted at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck Youth Centre at the Centenary village in Thmphu.
Officials from the Labour and Human Resources Ministry briefed the graduates on the objectives and importance of conducting the orientation programme.
Speaking to the graduates, the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources Dasho Dr. Sonam Tenzin said the NGOP this year is dedicated to the monarchy.
It has three main components namely Policy orientation, Cultural orientation and Symposium.
During the next two weeks, the Prime Minister, cabinet Ministers and senior government officials will be briefing the graduates on the 10th plan, its scope and targets, Bhutan’s transition to parliamentary democracy and the new GNH indices.
The graduates will also be familiarized with the national etiquette or Driglam Namzha. The graduates are also expected to carry out social and cultural activities in the course of the programme.
The NGOP is organized every year to re-orient the graduates with the country’s age-old culture and tradition and the plans and policies of the government.
The NGOP was first initiated by the Royal Civil Service Commission in 1983.
