NFE centre remains empty 2 years after construction

August 1:
A bamboo hut was constructed as Non-Formal Education (NFE) classroom in Malbasey village under Betini geog in Tsirang two years ago. But as our correspondent Sonam Ugyen reports the classroom is lying idle in the absence of NFE instructors.

The bamboo classroom for NFE learners at Malbasey village was constructed in 2006 following requests from the villagers. But the classroom remains unused as villagers wait for a NFE instructor.

Our reporter Sonam Ugyen says the bamboo hut looks deserted surrounded with bushes all around.

The village Tshogpa said remoteness of the place could be one of the reasons why the village has not been provided with a NFE Instructor even now.

The Tshogpa said if the NFE centre is opened it would help people who missed the chance to go to school.

According to Betini Gup Tshering Sherpa the village will get an instructor soon.

There are four NFE centres in Betini geog.
