November 14: With the National Council election drawing near the Election Commission has started issuing the voter photo identity cards in Thimphu.
People from across the kingdom who reside in the capital city can get their VPIC at the Royal Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA).
Every morning a huge crowd of people gather in front of the RAPA hall to collect their VPIC. People from all the 20 dzongkhags who live and work in Thimphu can collect their VPIC in Thimphu.
The Election Commission has employed 60 temporary people to help issue the VPIC. Every day more than 1,000 people come to receive their VPIC.
Without the VPIC, you will not be allowed to vote.
People from different dzongkhags who live in Thimphu can collect their VPIC till November 16. After that the cards will be sent to their respective Dzongkhags.
On Monday, November 12, they Election Commission issued about 8,000 VPIC. The Election Commission has processed more than 310,000 VPIC for the National Council elections.
The commission says the exact number of registered voters for the National Council election will be released on November 30.
