Marauding crows attack crops

July 29: In the south, it is rampaging elephants. In western and eastern dzongkhags, the biggest threat is wild boars and monkeys. But in Bidung, Trashigang, farmers are facing a totally different problem from an unexpected quarter. It is marauding crows.

Of late, crows have been attacking the maize harvest in droves.

The Bidung Mangmi Ugyen tshering told BBS that large swathes of maize field have been damaged by crows in the geog.

While it is crows during the day, wild boars are keeping the farmers awake at night. The farmers said they have no respite and have to remain awake through out the night guarding their crop.

Ugyen Tsheing said this is the first time that crows are attacking crops.
Bidung geog has about 450 households.
