September 20: The Mongar district court has sentenced a man to five years in prison for molesting his daughter. The verdict was passed yesterday.

The incident occurred on 24th July this year.

According to the court verdict, that afternoon the man who was drunk, threatened to beat his wife to death. The frightened wife had therefore gone to sleep at one of her neighbor’s place. The two other children had also gone to sleep at another neighbor’s place.

The 14-year-old year daughter was in the school. When she returned home in the evening, she found her father alone in the house. She also prepared to leave for her uncle’s place but she was forced to stay back.

At night, the father came to her room and tried to molest her. She managed to run away to her aunt’s place after telling her father that she wanted to go to the toilet.
